Dear Kids 4 Coding Families,
Just over three months ago most of us would never have imagined the world to be turned upside down. Amid the concerns and changes COVID19 has brought, you’ve stepped up in ways large and small, for your children, your families and your community. To provide learning opportunities, social interaction and a sense of normalcy for your kids, you need partners to help see your children through this difficult time, and what comes afterward.
For seven years Kids 4 Coding has been proud to be part of the education journey for more than 10,000 kids, from ages seven to 16. We’ll be there for them - and you - now!
Driven by a passion for tech education and a vision to create the next generation of tech-literate thinkers and doers, we’re committed to creating superior educational and enrichment experiences you’ve come to expect.
Register with confidence, knowing we’ll provide the flexibility you need to make the best choices for your families as we navigate this time together. Here’s everything you need to know about Kids 4 Coding summer offerings and evolving options. We will update this page regularly to keep you informed as we adapt to changing circumstances in order to best serve you.
We are communicating closely with host partners and remain optimistic that some on-campus tech programs will take place this summer. As soon as we receive word from each host location, we will contact registered families with updates.
WEEKLY VIRTUAL TECH CAMPS
Our project-based programs offer a digital playground that builds STEM skills, helps participants reach realistic goals and encourages peers to collaborate and connect. If your child’s on-campus program cannot take place in person, we will save a place for them in our small-group online sessions (see peace-of-mind policy below), which you’ll be able to modify based on your timing and curriculum preferences.
OUR PEACE-OF-MIND ENROLLMENT POLICY
You may need more flexibility this year than in previous years. For the hundreds of families already registered, and those soon to register, we will offer more options for making changes to your camp plans.
ON-CAMPUS POSTPONEMENT: If there is a campus postponement, you will have the following options:
1) Attend an alternate date or location this summer that is open; or
2) Should any On-Campus location be postponed, registered families receive priority placement in a Virtual Summer Tech Camp at no charge. Any remaining balance will be applied as a fair credit voucher to be used for any Kids 4 Coding program through summer 2021.
Important Note: Any remaining balance (fully transferable to family or friends) can be used toward either Kids 4 Coding Virtual Tech Camps or Academic or Tech Courses throughout the school year or On-Campus Summer Tech Programs held during the Summer 2021 season.
FAIR CANCELLATION OPTIONS
ON-CAMPUS SESSION: If you cancel your on-campus session 21 days in advance, you can choose a full-value credit voucher (fully transferable to family or friends, expires August 2021.)
VIRTUAL TECH CAMP SESSION: If you cancel your Virtual Tech Camp Session more than 15 days in advance, you can choose a full-value credit voucher (fully transferable to family or friends, expires August 2021.)
Because we need to schedule and compensate our exceptional instructors in advance, no credit vouchers can be issued for cancellations made within 15 days of session start dates.
HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS IN PLACE
Kids 4 Coding has always employed the camp industry standards of the American Camp Association and the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control for health and safety measures. This year, we have incorporated the recommendations from the World Health Organization into our procedures. Further precautions may be put in place as the current health situation and public health recommendations evolve.
Our summer staff follows these protocols to prevent and respond to illness:
Staff confirms with families during check-in that their student is in good health, has not been exposed to a communicable disease, and has not had flu-like symptoms in the past 14 days. We will have No-Contact Infrared Thermometers at daily check-in for each location to ensure no participants or staff have fevers.
Staff regularly wipes down and disinfects computer mice, keyboards, doorknobs, and commonly touched areas.
Staff promotes frequent and thorough handwashing techniques. : 20 seconds using soap and warm water.
Staff reiterates good coughing/sneezing etiquette (using a tissue or covering coughs and sneezes with the fold of the arm).
If staff or students show a temperature of 99.6 degrees or greater or other relevant symptoms, they will be kept in a separate area while waiting to go home.
Good hygiene habits, regularly disinfecting spaces, and frequent and thorough hand washing are easy preventative measures for all illnesses.
Virtual Math Academy
Heard of the Summer Slide?
Each summer vacation, students’ academic knowledge slips as they lose the consistent reinforcement of skills learning and review. This year, it will have a greater impact as students are out of school longer, with less teacher and peer interaction.
Because math is one of the most important building blocks of STEM education, Kids 4 Coding will soon launch a daily hour-long Virtual Math Program to maintain school year gains while keeping students engaged and learning necessary skills for the coming school year.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your children’s learning journey. If you have any questions about summer opportunities or policies, please...
